I ran the 3DMark2001SE test on a computer with 256 MB RAM. It was an AGP card if that makes a difference. The SGRAM modules (G2+/SG/MOD8) appear to be more common than the SDRAM.

Is it really worth chasing these upgrades? What difference do they make? Do any important games need them to run? If the advantage is just higher Windows resolutions/color depths then there's little point to them.

Which is better, SGRAM or SDRAM? I heard this upgrade is pointless for games, and only useful for bigger Windows desktop resolutions. Is that correct? I remember trying to run 3DMark2001SE on a 8MB Millennium G200 and being unable due to lack of memory. Does the upgrade allow this to be done?

Have you tried a hard reset? With the Palm III this is done by holding down the reset button while pressing the power button.

I have a dual boot Windows ME/XP machine with a DD 5.25" drive as B: It works fine in ME but causes errors in XP.

I had this problem last year. Just keep hammering the server and it will eventually activate. Then mirror your drive so you don't have this BS again. Office 2003 is the same. eta: Here is my old thread on this.

I don't recognize this problem, but had another issue, where the card would show corruption on screen when it was stressed (3DMark etc.) I fixed it by underclocking the GPU by about 15% using the S3Tweak utility.

That memory card is interesting. I have one of these in my collection but didn't know what it was for. Mine is by Compaq not Kingston though. Can you post a photograph of the back side of it? Do these cards only work in the Deskpro 386S?

I too have recently done something similar, but with Windows ME instead of Windows 98. 2.8 GHz Northwood. No need for anything faster (and hotter). This reminds me, is Windows XP incapable of using 5.25" drives? Windows ME detects the drive but XP doesn't. (The drive is DD not HD.)
