It's not even real SW chess. The game from the movie with the circular board. (Does it have actual rules?) Just Battlechess with cheesy SW sprites.

Is there a 16 bit DOS tool to process SFV CRC32 checksum database files? All I've been able to find is CRC32.COM on this site: http://sta.c64.org/pcutils.html. It doesn't handle the SFV file format though.

I don't think I've bought computer hardware on Amazon. I do buy music that way though. Received a LP shaped like a Pringle on one occasion.

The Globalwin CAF12 Card Cooler was very useful I remember. I don't know why they stopped making them.

Yes, this sounds like any number of 1980s isometric games. The big problem with those was that everything slowed down painfully if you had more than 2 or 3 moving objects on the screen.

The official GLQuake ports run very dark on Nvidia cards IIRC. There's no easy way of raising the brightness.

I would like to know this as well. Are you limited to ISA or do PCI floppy adaptors exist as well? Could you boot off such a bus floppy? Do they work in DOS without drivers?

I always assume the computer will be unusable for the first ~5 minutes after boot and go do something else while it settles down.

IIRC the only weakness of the C64 vs the Spectrum was its slower CPU. This was mostly an issue with calculation-intensive 3D vector games.
