The newest ATX case I have is from 2006. The only problem with old cases is that their front panel audio connectors usually don't support HD audio. ETA: front panel USB is also limited to 2.0 of course, though that hasn't bothered me as I don't have any computers with integrated USB 3.

Nice freight container. That RAID card looks like an AMI MegaRAID Enterprise 1200 (Series 428). I have an Enterprise 1400 (Series 438) which is similar.

I read somewhere that they were deliberately underpowered so they wouldn't compete with IBM's mainframe range. Most of the initial models used the 80286 or older chips even though the 386 had been out for years by the time the PS/2 debuted. The clone manufacturers were building 386s from the start. …

No, IIRC I tried plugging in a regular ATX PSU, even two at the same time, and it wouldn't power on.

Quake, Quake II and Half-Life were all about the mods. The stock games may have been good (HL especially so) but it was TF/AQ2/CS/DoD and others that made them really great.

Watch those PRAM batteries. I just lost one of my tray-loaders because the battery burst and spewed gloop all over the logic board. The machine was a spare and hadn't been powered on for years. I assume this isn't a danger for machines that are regularly powered on?
