I don't have any problems with my Widescreen Samsung T240 in Win98SE (fonts are small in FullHD, but everything is readable). What drivers are you using ? Did you tried switching between DVI/VGA plugs (or change cable) ?

@up Have you considered 3,2GHz versions of Gallatin/Northwood/Prescott ? They are cheaper, should overclock that 200MHz no problem (to match 3,4GHz on top ones), and because of lower multi ("16") - they will score better than 3,4GHz versions at same frequency (at least in theory 😉).

I think I can achieve that with this i945p platform and some day get Intel Core2Duo x6800 processor and see if I can't hit 4.5 - 4.8 ghz , and nvidia 7900 GTX, or maybe FX-5500 quadro. the only thing you need to get data back is another disk similar yours (exchange PCB and you are golden). thats very old knowledge and does not hold nowadays, might even be destructive Like I said, it was few years back (and HDD's were bought in 2008/2009 period).
