You are save, when using PSU's with 30A on the 5V rail. Good VGA cards for your 1GHz Athlon are: Geforce 2, 3 and 4 series. For your 3000+, the 4 series and 5 series and 6 series are good to go. Like the others have said: Your Asus A7V8X-LA has a 1.5A AGP slot, so a voodoo3 AGP card won't work, but …

Why do you want 200Mhz FSB? The 2600+ is fast enough for the V5. The KT333, the KT400 and even the KT400A do NOT support the 200 FSB. Ramp up to this value is high overclocking the chipset. Impressive!!! It's a very beautiful and clean case. Looks like it is bought directly in 97/98. I like the solution with the CF inside the 5 1/4 bay. A Voodoo 1 would be a good upgrade.

Yes, you're right. What i mean with the CPU is: it's not time-period combination anymore... Yes, the ATI card is quite bad, and the S3 performs really good.

Its SOOOOO bloody confusing the old Thoroughbred & Barton CPUS, did those overclock at 400mhz? It depends to the manufacturing date, that means if you can change the multiplier. If it fixed, i think it's too much for the core (14x200=2.8GHz). If you can change the multiplier than you can set 12x200 …

I remember this video, watching back in the day. But during the years, i've forgot some details and when i was working on a Thunderbird system last year, i have killed an Athlon 1000 cause i didn't use any thermal paste. Since these cpu's are not so expensive the loss was acceptable.
