What PC are you running this on? Windows 98 does not like to multitask. If this is on a 486, I'm gonna guess that's normal behavior. Don't listen to me though, I've never run 98 on a 486.

Another bid for the boot menu. Much simpler than partitioning. You just have to remember to turn off the read-only flag on MSDOS.SYS.

Besides, this is the most generic possible explanation of an "error". You will get nowhere in any forum with only that information, unless you actually try to fix the problem yourself (reinstall office? Hello?) so you run into problems that would be more telling.
