Hmm... I haven't been able to try it with a WEP encrypted network yet. I was just using the university's free wifi system. I downloaded a large file and, iirc, I was getting ~50 kbps. But I could be wrong on that; I'll try to get it out again sometime this week and do some more tests.

Not in Windows 98, you don't. In pure DOS, yes. The TSR you would have to load is called AWEUTIL, and it's just an initialization utility. Windows 98 initializes the card on its own so you don't need it in this particular case.
