There could be something messed up in system.ini file, maybe related to soundcards you have installed (I have experienced similar problems due to some GUS referrences in system.ini). Not sure, though.

Gainward (?) TSENG ET4000/W32i VLB adapter arrived today. Pretty neat condition, just a minor scratch on the PCB. That's my first VLB part ever. I removed the heatsink which did not seem original That's actally an effect of my drunk-bidding. I did not really needed that card, but got it for ~7 USD …

It badly tried to die and I got it from some parts butcher. But for now seems rescued. Will try to keep it that way, even though I dont find too much use for it 😀

Well, I think they'll be quite hard to get, as the demand for them seems relatively higher than for 286 or 386 systems, for example. Just more versatile.

OK, I think I do have this disk somewhere - I probably missed DOS app due to the fact that it requires win 3.11 to install. I would like to disable all potential noise sources (MIC input).

Isn't this retention issue rather related to ssd NAND wear due to to many write cycles? BTW - I use CF card for DOS installation and data, but I keep an old Seagate in my system just for the way it sounds. I think HDD noise is a big part of the whole experience.

I have tested my IBM 5x86c 100 on 4dps but I was experiencing some problems with writeback enabled. It was simply hanging. Somebody told me it was related to voltage regulation. So I switched to atrend atc1425b. No problems since.
