Slot1 or socket 370 shouldn't really matter? Or does it? It surely matters. The socket 370 cpus are all multiplier locked. I don't remember if there are 370 boards with intel and ISA either. For Slot 1, you can get P2 cpus, where you can adjust the cpu clock from 133 MHz up to 500 MHz in bios. This …

Take a screwdriver and pop the cooler off, it is probably glued. The P2 without cache can run as slow as an XT

It may sound a bit like preaching wine and drinking water, but if you have trouble getting a tualatin to run, you could pull this stunt with an Athlon 1400 too. I keep that option in a drawer for now, literally.

So one actually needs to find a rather fast CPU to begin with to emulate a faster 386 model? Yep, thats what it boils down to. Slot1 ist the only option to almost come full circle: With 1000 MHz without cache, you reach a fast 386. Try playing with your ram timings too, for fine tuning the speed. …

There are many games past 1994 which have speed issues. Some early windows games can cause trouble. I've played WC on a P3-800 without internal cache, and it seemed slightly faster than on a 286-16.

Aces of the Pacific - Joystick calibration Turbo Pascal written games will likely toss in the towel at about 266 MHz P2 power. SSI's clash of steel comes to mind.

Sure you can remove it. It is attached by 4 Screws in the side of the cooler. These screws may look like small bolts, but they have a telling hexagonal core, which fits an inbus key. I need to come to terms with cooling my V5 as well. This made for an interesting read, but I guess I have to grab a 12 inch fan and build some airflow guides from card board.

I used the bios from Epox 8-KRAI. Based on KT-600, no V5. However, one can put in a GF6800 and use a glide wrapper. Gives AA as well, but doesn't work on all games. My XP-M defaults to 133*15. I have an untampered XP-M 2600+ here. Just for you, I changed the clock to 16x133. No problem! I don't know why you want to cut bridges. The CPU can run faster than 15x without cuts. Perhaps the problem is with the mobo / bios?
