In a way, an LX isn't going to be a neat solution. It likely won't run well with power hungry AGP cards, like Voodoo3 3000 or Voodoo5 5500. Ok folks, this is what i am trying to find: BX chipset with slot 1 for P2 underclock and P3 800 support bios settings for underclock (x2, fsb 66 or less) L1 & L2 Cache off in bios 1x (better 2x) ISA ability to sustain a V5 5500 AGP Would an Asus p3b-f rev. 1.04 fill the bill?

I have switched to 25A on a Forton Source PSU. That thing ist heavy / sturdy. Same problem. And after all, the Athlon 1400 works just fine. I'll try my weaker fortron source with 25 A on 5V. I was wondering if this could be a "win98 meets duron" problem? I also figured that 1800 MHz would win flat against 256k cache. Especially if I need to overvolt 0.15V anyway, the thing will clock up to 2000+

On a P1, a V2 SLI is pretty much overkill. With most games, one V2 will do fine, provided you are willing to put in some efford. If you know what you are doing, you can run a V1 and V2 together. The only advantage of a V1 is the ease of running older games.

Dominion Wars ran on my Radeon X850 in XP. I couldn't believe it! :D That game is so incredibly picky about what cards it will even load up on. I have been in the shoes of the TS too. There is an alternative approach: Don't use a GF2 but a powerful GF5 or 6 with a glidewrapper and a Voodoo addon card. The glidewrapper will take care of many games, and fsaa is no problem. The addon will take care of all others.
