Re: Problem with display with fullfixed setting

in DOSBox General
Can you try the suggestion made by gulikoza regarding my question in another thread: You could try setting Refresh Rate override in DxDiag (click start->run->type dxdiag->more help->override). When I used 70 Hz as override, i got a good result. You use your posted file, only change scaler to none. …

YEEEESSS!!!!! :happyhappy: :happyhappy: :happyhappy: Here we go... The door is wide open... It just came to me...isn't surface basically a directx surface with our modified sdl.dll? You could try setting Refresh Rate override in DxDiag (click start->run->type dxdiag->more help->override). Before I …

@Reckless: Can you tell me which thread it is, I don't find it... Which Display mode do you use? The openglnb mode is definately too slow for the task. I shall try the other suggestions once my main machine is back up again. Just for curiosity: Have you tried fullfixed to 640x480 with normal2x and …

Re: how to increase dosbox native refresh rate?

in DOSBox General
As I've said, my ati control panel allows me to specify refresh rates for d3d and opengl. And that is with any resolution, including 320x200. But the picture will be slightly blurry at 320x200 since a TFT monitor has to internally resample to it's native resolution so you're better off with …

Re: how to increase dosbox native refresh rate?

in DOSBox General
Thanks for all your suggestions, but I guess I my problem is outside the dosbox frame. I will have to convince my *censored* expensive Geforce6800 to act up and deliver the genuine 320x200 picture at some higher refresh rate. For my hardware Dosbox, I have a voodoo3 PCI enroute, where I have done …

Re: Getting my AWE64 working in pure DOS mode

in DOS
May I suggest a different solution? I have had the same problem, in fact, I do have the working ctcm or ctcu etc. files somewhere. I grew tired of this and found salvation in the ESS Chipsets. I have an old notebook that uses the ess688 chip, which works with dos games without any driver whatsoever. …

Re: how to increase dosbox native refresh rate?

Personally, I like my pixels to be as razor-sharp as possible with 2D graphics. I completely agree with you, however, I also like circles to be circles... :happyhappy: So with a 1280x1024 display, one has to make some compromise. I need to stretch in order to get circles. I found my solution to be …

Re: ykhwong's new release

in DOSBox General
I just hang in here, cause this is an issue that intrests me too. I am using an Athlon XP3200+. Due to my TFT (see other post), I have to fullfixed= true to 640x480 with surface, normal2x and scale=true. I am under the impression that i am about as fast as a 486@66 MHz. Is this reasonable? How much …

Re: how to increase dosbox native refresh rate?

in DOSBox General
Thanks for your reply. I learned one new thing from it. The "output" setting is doing something even if fullfixed=false. So I just tried all available output settings. The best picture quality (on CRT) is obtained with surface and with openglnb. The other options produce a more blurry picture. The …

how to increase dosbox native refresh rate?

in DOSBox General
After a search and some fiddling on my own, I found out why dosbox doesn't run on my analog TFT with fullfixed=false on a Geforce 6800. The modes are not supported at that refresh rate. Sure enough, there is a workaround, I have mapped the display to supported resolutuions, I also have a CRT sitting …

Re: Anti-debugging, whatever, code in older games...?

in DOSBox General
As I said in another article below, I have build a physical dosbox for my old gems. I was not aware that some games carry such massive protections (against what). While I am not interested in the game, I do wonder if it will run on my physical dosbox. I report back when I know. I got all my games to …

Test Program available?

in DOSBox General
I am wondering if there is a test program available? It should assist the user to find out if the dosbox functions as it should. It would basically be a check if the dosbox and the local hardware interact propperly. It would check different audio outputs, screen functions, glide(?) etc. Call it a …
