Sorry for a minor derailing, but would it be possible to exchange the SRAM chips on the motherboard with faster ones? The Pentium 2 SRAM chips come to mind, mostly because these were usually rated at much higher frequencies. It would require some major soldering skills though to pull off such a …

The K6 series CPUs don't reward overclocking well, as performance increase is negligible past 500-550MHz, and don't really make much heat, so removing the IHS is completely pointless. Going from 500-550 does almost nothing yes. But every Mhz overclock on the FSB sure does a lot! My 3dmark 2000 …

I am sure I did read a few times of people overclocking the K6 3+ that they said delid and copper cooler did help a lot. I am tinkering with my K6 III+ @115x5.5 Got an ATI 8500 today 😁 But 3d mark 2000 crashes half way in :p So I am looking at drivers and AGP Regedit settings. So far no luck sigh, but still love K6 tinkering!

Hi members 😀 I have seen people delid K6 CPUs for better overclocking potential. But it is risky as you can chip it when installing the cooler. I was wandering about delid and then put new paste like Coollaboratory Liquid Pro and put the lid back? My idea is to maybe put a copper lid back. 😊

Oh my I see you have a K6 3 550!! Is it overclocked or really a 550?? On my GA5AX 5.2 with 128mb ram I lose performance for sure if L3 is turned of 🙁 I have K6 3 500 ANZ on 5.5x115 633mhz its unstable if I go higher 🙁
