Excellent, so not just me, I wonder what the cut off is in terms of CPU speed, Might try later on my PIII 500. Was a bit concerned with this as I've got a little upgrade on the way for my DOS system, ATX SS7 board with onboard YMF715 or 719 audio .

Bit of testing, x-wing doesn't have the problem but seems to use an older imuse version, "SETMUSE" which detects and tests midi just fine, Dark Forces and Tie Fighter both lock up when trying to test with General Midi and also when trying to launch the game without testing, I was incorrect before …

Under Windows 10 you'd be best using a source port (also to get better hardware acceleration) which will play the soundtrack in .ogg or .mp3 or whatever. Most of the source ports implement this feature. Maybe DarkPlaces or Quakespasm.

Are you able to test Dark Forces? That also uses iMuse, is it crashing on the midi test? If so it could be a resource conflict have you set it to MPU401 / General Midi? The 9550 isn't a bad card and some of them can be softmodded via drivers to 9600/xt or 9700 speeds (might be the 9500 my memory for that time is not the best). Whatever you do you can have a lot of fun on 98SE or XP.
