Re: Recap question

Didn't ASUS tended to install their caps backwards at some point? I can vaguely remember this being a typical ASUS thing (and it being a nuisance that was already mentioned on Vogons once or twice). It's just that they employ nonstandard PCB markings. Yes that's what it has to be since the board …

Recap question

I took off the old caps from my Asus A7V and noticed something weird. Every other time I've replaced cpas the white silkscreen on the motherboard indicates the negative terminal. On this board the reverse appears to be true. http://imgur.com/UR2ac6I http://imgur.com/X7ed2If http://imgur.com/4VfhyPa …

I would agree with that. Where do you suggest the discussion should take place? I was meaning specifically arbitrage. Understood. Well like I said, I am up for it. I have no interest in the day to day running of something like that but could provide the resources. I personally have tons of old …

Re: New Hardware Trading Forum

in Milliways
I think it's important that as soon as the topic of trading comes up, all discussion should immediately exit this forum. That's why having an entirely separate platform is critical. And it wouldn't necessarily be a requirement that people be members on Vogons as the intention is to be selective for …

Re: New Hardware Trading Forum

if you pose restrictions on membership based on vogons membership (as proposed in the other topic), then how are you going to prevent problems spilling back here and can you really state it is separate from vogons ? Not to mention gathering the members through this forum. It feels a bit fake like: …

The other thread on this was locked and I wanted to post there. I can certainly host a website and a sub domain on our network for this. I don't want to admin or monitor it but if someone else was willing and setup guidelines I'd host the site for free.

Re: Saying hello

Info box sounds good, I would say: speed, bus speed, cache size, socket, voltage, power use would make a good start. One page per couple model also sounds good: pentium, amd k6, Cyrix 6x86, 80486, etc

Re: Saying hello

Wow that's so much stuff! I'm working on a project over at the Vogonswiki to document old hardware with photos, specs and other details, so if you are interested in taking high resolution photos of things (whether you end up selling them or not) I hope you will consider uploading them there! The …

Re: Saying hello

Forgive me if I've posted some obvious info. I cut and pasted from another forum where I was showing this off to the 'youngsters'. I've actually been considering selling off some of them and just keeping digital images of it all. It's a debate with myself, there's been a lot of time and energy put …
