Hate to necro the thread but I've noticed that after 306ish, Pre Directx 7 seems to be broken on Nvidia cards on XP, I get garbled video and I've seen it across Tesla, Fermi and Kepler based cards. And it happens on 2 different systems.

I was able to get 98 up and running on an EVGA 610i board so you should also be able to get it up and running on a Nforce 430.
