Re: Yamaha Sequence Object Linking (SOL) 2

and so on and so on. However, I kind of doubt many people here will be interested (based on my previous experience), even that the potential is almost unlimited, because the S-YXG50 SoftSynth Engine is very close and high-quality copy of their AWM2 engine in their hardware devices. S-YXG50 VST …

Re: Yamaha Sequence Object Linking (SOL) 2

Can you tell me if the installation .INI file for SOL has a languages section, and whether changing the default value there allows SOL to be installed in another language? Ah, so the VSTi is like the PLG board editors: standalone mode and plugin mode. I am not sure we're talking for the same things. …

Re: Yamaha Sequence Object Linking (SOL) 2

Ah, so the VSTi is like the PLG board editors: standalone mode and plugin mode. Idecs Hyper Groove was a range of MIDI file floppies and CD-ROMs with MIDI phrase samples (basically pre-made sequences you could use in your sequencer). Based on the quality of the demos the whole product line seemed …

Re: Yamaha Sequence Object Linking (SOL) 2

BTW, I want to make a note that the information here: https://og.kervella.org/y/readme.html and more specifically: ....S-YXG50. It is based on the trial version from the Yamaha SOL2 package. The full version of this VSTi had never been released, because Yamaha had decided to discontinue support of …

Re: Kawai GMEGA - Broken display?

Open it up and see if there is this type of trim pot that could adjust the brightness. trim.jpg I thought that could be it and I asked the seller if it didn't have an internal slider/knob/pot and he said no, it was through the panel. He also said he would ask a friend who has a similar device how …

Re: Kawai GMEGA - Broken display?

That looks like someone adjusted the contrast wrongly on the display. Check the manual (available from Kawai USA) to see whether it can be adjusted (it will either be a knob on the module or a setting in the menus). It can also mean a failed display, although normally when they fade over time you …

Re: MIDI-file players for modern macOS?

You could try Quicktime Player, which is included with your Mac. It should be able to play General MIDI files, normally using its internal synth, but I think you can also change the settings to use a MIDI out port instead. Edit: apparently it depends on the version of Quicktime whether it can play …

Re: MIDI-file players for modern macOS?

Hiya. Ok, I have a Roland SC-55 and a Roland UM-One MkII USB-MIDI interface. From time to time, I would just like to connect the SC55 to my MacBook (running Big Sur) and play some MIDI files. Are there any good players for just basic playback of MIDI files? So far I have only found MIDITrail, but …

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

XGWorksST probably supports PLG, but it is basically SOL-Light (ST = SOL Technology), so may as well just use SOL. I just checked with my boxed copy of ST, but no, even with ST (and likely SOL/ SOL2) you still need to install the various PLG-board editors. They are, however, included on the ST CD- …

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

I was going to try to access it through XGWorks, but my version is too old and doesn't even show the DR as an option. No versions of XGWorks will show the DR as an option straight out of the box (or any PLG board really). You need to install a separate editor for each board. Those editors usually …
