Voodoo pass-thru Option #431987

Title is a bit funny, yeah. This has probably been posted a thousand times before. But I think I found a modern equivalent for people with these cards that for whatever reason, original owners of these cards either never sell the cable with the card, they throw it away for whatever reason, they …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

I think you might have confused between TR1 and TRUB, and used the TR1 3Dfx patch on TRUB. TRUB is a bonus level and has its own separate 3Dfx patch. TRUB should be installed on top of TR1 installation. Hence, I think your TR1 installation might also have gone bad or a bad CD or questionable source …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

This might be stupid question but did you install the 3dfx rush patch to the tomb raider and use that executable to run it? I ask this because I thought that executable would not run at all if it doesn't find voodoo card and you would not get software rendering with it either. https://www. …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

I tested tomb raider quite a while to get it working with voodoo 2 card. Basically in the end I managed to make it work on my pentium 3 system. From http://falconfly.vogonswiki.com/voodoo2.html I downloaded driver version win9x V3.03.00 and I copied glide2x.ovl file from the driver to the tomb …

Re: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix

I never could get Tomb Raider 1 working on any of my Voodoo2 cards, no matter what driver I used or variables I set. The game would simply not use the 3dfx card. Period. So, today I pulled the plug and spent way too much money to get a Diamond Monster 3D 4MB version of a Voodoo1. Should be here in a …

Re: Built me a server!

I know there's a lot one can do with a server, but my problem is I really have no need for anything else. It's like "Cool, you can do your own private e-mail server!" Yeah, if you wanna pay some company monthly fees to be able to publish and host your domain name credentials so that the e-mail …

Re: 2007 "retro" C2D XP PC

I really do like the fact that we have 10-year-old hardware in the Core 2 Quad and the Xeon quad-cores that are still PERFECTLY ABLE to run modern Windows 10 for everyday tasks and even gaming at 1080@60 with moderate graphics settings. Even Phil showed that, using a Radeon RX 570 with the Q9650 in …

Built me a server!

So I have a few LGA775 systems lying around. I got this Micro-ATX LGA775 motherboard from a buddy after we upgraded him to a new Ryzen 5 6-core/12-thread gaming rig. Yeah, it had a dual-core Pentium in it running around 2.4GHz. But recently I got into running PLEX on my computer at home and I've …

Re: Pentium III Katmai 500 Build

I remember having a friend back in college who had a rather hot AMD K6-2+, just a bit slower than my Pentium II at the time. He drastically increased his cooling by using some styrofoam tubing and duct tape. He completely sealed the fan shroud in the front of the case sucking in cold air and had the …

Re: Psu help

To answer the original question, how do you tell a system that needs lots of 5V power from a system that needs lots of 12V power? Simple. Does your motherboard have this: CPU Power Socket.jpg See that extra 8-pin CPU Power socket on the bottom right? That's an extra 12V power delivery rail …

Re: 2009 build - Win 7 or XP?

According to my device manager for my 6GB 980ti in Windows 10 64-bit, the memory mapper only shows address ranges that total up to ~40 MB. The reason I call foul is because there's NO WAY the CPU can dump enough game data to fully load the card during gaming or rendering with only 40MB of …
