Re: ATI Rage II mis-reporting

How would you like me to measure it's performance? I have 3dMax99 I could run and I have, but it's definitely worse than the Voodoo card at the same resolution. You know what? I'm gonna run it. Ok, so I just installed 3dMax99 and I only had DirectX 5 installed. Now I'm installing 6.1. Now the …

Re: ATI Rage II mis-reporting

Nevermind... I think. I just found THIS PAGE: http://www.dosdays.co.uk/topics/Manufacturers/ati.php That says: "The mach64GT (commonly known as the 3D RAGE) introduced hardware support for 3D operations. The 3D RAGE included all mach64VT features with the addition of hardware 3D acceleration, …

ATI Rage II mis-reporting

So I JUST caught this error after a few years. In my 1997 Socket 7 built, I'm using a PCI card marked as the ATI Rage 2C. The card markings are as follows: On the PCB itself: ATI (logo) PN 109-61800-00 ©1999 ATI Technologies Inc On the BIOS chip: RAGE2C PCI 61801.100 (on a sticker on top of the chip …

Re: DOS versions of DOOM

Too late. It's already done. The long way. LOL I just put some Twitch streamer on while I was doing it. Gave me a very clean folder for a new Win95 install. Not that it's relevant, but this system I actually did a "build" stream on my Twitch channel too, but I think it was too long ago and the VoD …

Re: DOS versions of DOOM

Ok, so I spent over an hour in DOS deleting the C:\Windows folder file by file, folder by folder, command by command until it was nuked and gone and then reinstalled Windows 95. It's working perfectly right now. I guess now I can worry about this whole Doom2 thing again. LOL Win9x and freakin' …

Re: DOS versions of DOOM

Well, this mini-project is now going to have to wait. My Pentium 1 Win95 system now won't boot due to some driver issues regarding the IDE ports on the motherboard. Looks like a fresh re-install is in my future, before I can even begin to try to put games on it.

DOS versions of DOOM

Ok, so I'm on the hunt for the original DOS program files (NOT the WAD files, I have those already from a LONG time ago and from the Win9x versions of the game) to run on my retro systems. Specifically because the Win9x versions don't really run all that well on a 200MHz Pentium system, but will run …

Super low-level Format for floppy

Ok, so long story short, I have a box of floppies and a couple of them simply won't format anymore - not on my Windows 10 USB floppy nor on Windows 95 or 98. I've checked multiple physical drives and OSes. It's not a hardware issue. It's the floppy. Does anyone have ready access to any software that …
