So, let's say I go with that Gigabyte motherboard and an Athlon XP. What power supply would I need? I assume it would also depend on the GPU, so could I run an ATi Radeon 9200 on this system?

I think I will go with a later board, likely the Gigabyte GA-7VT880 Pro. I want a modern board for it. Do you think I'll be able to run XP on a build with that board and an Athlon XP 3200?

Would I still be able to use the sound from the awe32 and dreamblaster if I assigned midi to a different port or card? Back to gpus for a second, which would compliment a V2 SLI setup best (using the K6-III+): ATi Rage Fury Maxx Nvidia TNT2-Ultra Nvidia GeForce 256 Matrox G550?

Looked at some Gigabyte Motherboards, really like the GA-7VT880 Pro. It uses the Via KT880 Chipset, has AGP 8x, Firewire, up to 4Gb of DDR400 RAM, GIGABIT LAN (!), and SATA. Looks like the one for me!!

I would consider a Gravis Ultrasound MAX or perhaps an AWE 64. What are the issues with the AWE32? If MIDI is too big an issue on the AWE32, I might get the SB 16 and couple it with the Dreamblaster X1 and Gravis Ultrasound ACE.

So, motherboard - check. GPU - check. CPU - check. Now for my favorite part: THE SOUND CARD! I am considering the Sound Blaster AWE32 with the Dreamblaster X1 wavetable board. I can grab an MT-32 and SC-88 later on.

I've looked at slot A. I think for my Athlon build, I will choose Socket A. If Slot 1 and Socket 370 are really that similar, I won't build a 370 PC.
