Check this, you may already have the newer chip, depends on revision. That said, if you have the older chip, you should be able to swap it, it's pin compatible, and some revisions do have the chip. Re: Asus P2B-F Slot 1 Retro PC

From my personal experience fighting this exact scenario, of trying to get a CF card to behave in master/slave config, it was 100% the cards I was trying at fault, not the adapters or cables. You have to get a card that *truly* supports master/slave, most industrial cards do.

By 'same as last one' I meant the version where you increased the pads going under the chip, to which we determined makes that much better for hot air soldering, but still difficult with an iron, hence why wider pads to the outside direction could help with that I'll try and get that printed/checked …

We printed the PCB, the SRAM pads look quite the same as the last one, you did link the latest version? Bottom line is it can be soldered by someone who is good, but to make it possible for less capable people (myself 😉) the pads could be maybe twice as wide, to the outside direction.
