Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

Well then 😁 With nothing but a straight motherboard swap, from the Gigabyte GA-5AA to the Asus P5A-B, I'm now getting 3400 3dmarks! Same installation too, so all same drivers and settings (though the motherboard chips drivers did reinstall on first boot). Does this not confirm that the Gigabyte …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

Just to keep this up to date: I tried updating the v3 bios to 2.15.12, and tried setting Ali ago settings directly in the registry, with some settings I got that I thought would be correct. Score was just over 2500, so still not correct. I actually managed to acquire a Asus P5A-B rev 1.4, so soon …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

Thanks for doing all that, Bloodem, really appreciate the effort! I guess, at the end of the day, it's the motherboard having troubles with the cpu, meaning one of them will have to be replaced. I really wanted to use the + CPU, for the PowerNow features, so I'll have to try and find another mother …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

With the barebones system (no other cards than V3 and all non essential mobo stuff turned off) and 128MB, cpu running at 550mhz, I got it to hit 19fps in Q2 640x480 software. So, it's a small improvement over the original... but highest 3dmark i've hit is 2490... still about 1000 points shy of where …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

Decided to run memtest86... Why does it say I don't have any L3 cache?! Shouldn't that be the motherboard cache? Could it be bad/dead and thus explain the slowdown? Please, anyone with a k6-2+... If you could share your results from memtest86 that would really help. (I'm using memtest86+ 5.01 floppy …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

I guess the only next step I have is to wait for the ram (doubt it will help, wouldn't explain the big performance drop) then strip it down to the basics and build up, testing as I go. And after that, if it still doesn't change then I've no idea.... Would be interested to try with a non + CPU, but …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

I ran the memory benchmarks in aida32 The attachments are at 600mhz, but when I set the multiplier to 5.5 the write speed actually went up to 115MBS. Due to this, I ran 3dmark99 at 550mhz, and got 2400/7369, a bit lower than previously, so I'm not sure why that write speed was higher when I slowed I …

Re: Voodoo 3 3000 AGP under performing?

Right, I'm going to get to the bottom of this *raises fist to the sky* I don't have a 128MB stick, but I just ordered one, and should get that in a few days, then I'm going to strip the system down, to just what you suggested... and see what happens. Would it help at all, while waiting for that ram, …
