22 year old receipt

Having a clean out, and found an old wallet, and looking through it, I found a receipt from when I bought an Aureal Vortex 2 from a computer shop, here in Finland. 700 MK on 13.3.2000 That's it, just wanted to share because I was so surprised to find it. Re: Voodoo 5 preventative maintenance

And here is the card now IMG_20220324_102345~2.jpg IMG_20220324_102908~2.jpg Coolers attached and recapped with good caps. It was good that we did that, because although it looked ok to the eye, after removing old caps there was signs of leakage, and a little damage in one spot, which we got nicely …

Re: Voodoo 5 preventative maintenance

Here is the cooling solution I used for the VSA chips. Not cheap, and perhaps overkill, but it's what I wanted. Heatsinks are Enzotech Northbridge coolers, and they fit the mounting holes on the V5 PCB without modification IMG_20220317_191820.jpg For fans, I used these Noctua 5V 40mm fans. I was …

Re: Double Sound Card - SB0060-SB16

You could pick up an CT4500 or Ct4520 for not so much, gives you SB16 and AWE support without the midi bugs, and so long as you're playing in Windows, will be easy to use. Then you can improve the midi by either adding a Simmcon for loading bigger sound banks, or a Chill adapter to connect a wave …

Re: Double Sound Card - SB0060-SB16

When SBLive drivers detect a PnP ISA card made by Creative in the same PC, the DOS emulation features of the Live will be automatically disabled. This doesn't occur with ISA cards from other manufacturers such as ESS. That's interesting, didn't know that, always good to learn something new. I …

Re: Double Sound Card - SB0060-SB16

Yeah, it's pretty easy. Install the live first, then disable the SB emulation components in device manager. Then look in autoexec.bat and config.sys and remove anything that the SB live put there (you won't need it for Windows). After that, just install the sb16 as normal.

Re: Voodoo 5 preventative maintenance

Thanks for the tips, I've already ordered a replacement cooling solution (I'll post about that when I get it) and am ordering high quality replacement caps this weekend. I freeze sprayed the stock wimpy heatsinks off, now I gotta try and get rid of the remaining old gunk, but it's pretty tough. Not …

Re: ASUS P2B-B Voltage regulator swap - Adding support for coppermine processors

Update! After doing the above mod allowed me to run Coppermine processors, I then started looking into Tualatin adapters. I picked up a Slotket adapter off eBay, one which supports Coppermine CPU's (important, most just support the old Celerons) slotket.jpg Then I purchased a 1.4Ghz Tualatin Celeron …

Re: How to make a turbo display switch change the display, when motherboard has no headers?

I'm going to need to edit the title of this topic, as I think this is down to a faulty display. I can tell the display elements are all working, and that the switch itself is working, it's just not handling the switch state, somewhere in the display. I will take it to my friend to have it looked at, …
