I agree with what is written above: Never open the drive if you have important data on it...! What kind of failure do you observe? If it still spins up, usual procedure is to make a 1:1 image on a working drive with tools like ddrescue and recover the files from the image...

Yes, I have also watched this. Most interesting card was the Guillemot Maxi Sound 64, but if you take a look at the sold items you see that it is usually sold for only around 50€. The backplane was also interesting. As the auction was beyond 80€ I deleted it from my watch list...

Nice lot predator hopefully everything works upon arrival. Thanks, Yes, I asked for a packing each card in newspaper and this was confirmed... A Voodoo3 2000. The rest is more or less electronics junk as far as I can tell. Thats apparently why I bought it, but I will keep some other cards as well.

Post some pictures of mainboard + controller... Is the a ROM on the controller? You could try to remove it. If it boots from floppy then, you can try access the disk via Speedstor...

There must be a hotkey to enable boot from floppy when a HD is installed. Otherwise you wouldnt be able to boot e.g. copy protected games with a HD installed.
