To fix the stuttering just increase the frameskip. Here I´ve put it equal to 1 and works ok for windows and for linux. :happyhappy: I have those sound stutter problems on Windows XP on my Dell D600 Laptop. On my Athlon PC it's okay. Perhaps you forgot to connect the cdrom drive's audio to the soundcard when reactivating your old pc ?

I suggest, you try DOSBOX http://dosbox.sourceforge.net I got that game running. Only problem were some slowdowns now and then. I would also recommend the use of SCUMMVM It improves the gfx and also can play the cd-audio tracks of the Monkey Island CD version. You even can convert the audio tracks to MP3s. SCUMMVM can then use them as if they were CD-Audio tracks. Works good for me...

Perhaps you've selected MIDI Music. AFAIK when MIDI is selected the sound effects are turned off. Try starting the MONKEY.EXE with the parameter /? or -? You'll get a list of command-line options with which you can select the sound output manually. Hint: Try the ScummVM! Get it here
