Yes, there are jumpers that ought to get me down to 2x60 MHz, and I may just do that and drop the memory down to 16MB since even 32MB has caused some setup programs to get upset. I also like solutions where I get new toys though 😜

I currently use a GF6200-AGP passive 64Bit in my P4/1,6 Ghz (38TDP!). It is a very good card, even for 64Bit. I can run the early Radeon8500 up to 9700 radeon demos, and the matrox-reef-demo (3d-analyze). The GF4 demos do not run good, don't know why, the (older)Games I tested so far are very good …

There are DOS/Win98 compatible graphics cards with DVI outputs too, which might give you a better image than converting back from VGA. Might be cheaper too.

The resolution of games on a real DOS machine is just controlled by the games themselves - at the time CRT monitors were the norm and they can display a variety of resolutions without the ugly scaling you can get on an LCD, so games were developed to run on any reasonably standard resolution and …

I assumed it was quite common to see CPUs of this era with only a passive heatsink, so long as the CPU is close to the PSU fan. I have a couple of Gateway systems like this, one P233 MMX and one PIII 450, both are super quiet.

Crimson Skies. It's a rather arcade-like flight sim, set not in WW2 but in an alternate 1930s timeline where airships are used like aircraft carriers, and you are an air-pirate. Gameplay focuses on dogfighting with guns and occasional flying under/through stuff.

Found an immaculate copy of Extreme Assault at a market this morning for two of my English pounds. Quite fun despite frustrating controls - helicopters have too many degrees of freedom for any control method I think.
