As far as chipsets go, until a few months ago I would have responded with ESS ES1868, but today my answer is simple: CMI8830/A. I am a believer. That said, if we are talking about specific cards Orpheus is in a league of its own..

Thanks for the information, I dug through the patch files and MANUAL.TXT does indeed have a simple walkthrough of the steps needed. Now I can start my LGA775 build.

I got myself an ASUS Extreme AX850PRO 256MB PCIe. I didn't need it at all but it is the fastest PCIe ATI card for Win9x and I hope to build a stupidly fast Win9x/Win7 dual boot system some day. I'm looking at my options for a motherboard for this setup currently..

Just to test if it still works, I took Bard (Am5x86), as it is the closest to what I had back then (Cyrix DX2-66@80), even if a bit faster, but still it's technically a late 486, and installed Visual Basic 5 (that's what came with VS and that's what I was using back then), MS Office 97 and Winamp …
