I have a similar issue with my BX-2000 board, I've tried multiple drives and ribbon cables, and multiple diskettes, it has issues reading disks. The said drives, cables and disks work in other systems. Is it possible for the FDD controller on a board to go bad like this?

I love Terratec like no other but the 6Fire is a recording card and not very good for gaming.. A Terratec Gold 16/96 or even better a Maestro 32/96 is the way to go for that. If you have to go with PCI the Solo 128, Digital 512i or the XFire 1024 are better options for gaming than the 6Fire.

Excellent, although it's possible some of these will have no effect. I thought all P54C cores responded to TR12 flags? As far as I've found, they will respond to the flags, but some will have no performance impact where they do with the PMMX cpus. At least that's the case with the P133 I tested. …

I have two CT4170 cards as well.. same model but different PCBs, likely different revisions, but I've also had no issues wrt clipping with them. They are CQM, so that's a downside if you consider it that, but otherwise they were pretty much faultless.

I used to own an PC/AT clone with a Hercules card, but my monitor was a 12.1" black/white.. monochrome? We used to call green/amber monitors monochrome and the black/white ones Hercules. To this day I don't know how off our terminology was.

Yeah, since I can do the L2 Cache in BIOS (I can actually disable either L1 or L2 in BIOS, but SETMUL is pretty handy to deal with L1 on the fly for things like Ultima 7, Underworld etc.) so I will probably use Turbo for FSB, BIOS for L2(/L1) and SETMUL for L1.
