Given that few if any games from the XP era really take advantage of multi cores - and many suffer from them - why not? He also disables all IO he doesn't use even though he really doesn't need to, it's just his modus operandi. XP and 99% of XP software work fine on multicores and adjusting core affinity is easy as pie. He just feels more comfortable this way.

Grabbed a SB 16 Vibra CT2960 for $7 (Seller's photo). I already had one of these in stock, but I like collecting Sound Blaster cards and SB16s are usually easy to sell or trade off so why not.. I can trade it away for a more interesting ISA card for someone really crazy about having an SB16.

That is not an issue replacing capacitors, especially fintering capacitors on the RAM will fix, that is a definite sign that one of the memory chips on the card is borked, if you have the expertise you could try replacing them one by one (whack-a-mole style) to find the faulty one and replace it.

How anyone can be cool with the idea of Secure Boot being forced down our throats by hardware manufacturers just because Microsoft implemented it in their software and now have the check on what to provide keys for is beyond me. It is some EVIl, DYSTOPIAN SHIT in its purest form.
