I agree with leileilol, those tweak guides were poison to my framerates back in the day all because I didn't know any better. 🙁 There are very few q3config tweaks that do much at all.

Also, I had a fan just quit on a Kyro 1 64MB after only 4-5ish years of use. That caused the card to slow die as I gave the PC to a family member. 😒

Running the Q3A Demo v1.11, demo001 I get 50.3fps at 1024x768 high settings. With my Voodoo 3 3000 @ 195/195. With a few tweaks I can hit near 60fps with little image quality loss. 😎

I have mine running at 195/195 with a 120mm fan keeping it cool. I use Vctrl to set my clocks. http://www.3dfxzone.it/koolsmoky/vctrl.html

I recommend sticking with the 'latest' drivers released by 3dfx.

Rage 128GL 16MB was my first video card. :cool: I remember overclocking the crap out of that thing, getting it up to 115/160 stable over the defaults of 90/90. :exclamation: I had great Quake3 framerates @ 800x600x32 I think with max settings but texture detail set to medium with a few performance …

I'm not sure how any of us put up with these comparison shots. "look at this 640x480 screenshot of the *insert card* vs the *insert card* running at 1600x1200. What does resolution have to do with the horrible skybox banding? I was talking about reviewers back in the day, I should have clarified.

I assembled my Pentium 3 Voodoo 3 system after moving to a new place. It never had a case so it was always just out in the open running on a plastic tote. :dead: (trying to find a cheap modern case and not really caring all too much is why) So during the move the motherboard got basically tossed …

Try a different driver set, or another version of Quake 2? Test the demo using OpenGL, or patch to a new or older version. Possibly try reinstalling?
