Anybody have or know where to download the DOS utilities for a Realtek RTG3105E card? Specifically utilities like vmode.exe to set CGA mode. I've scoured the web and seen mentions of them, but can't seem to find them.

Any old hard drives, regardless of model or type can be a gamble. Generally I've found reliability of old hard drives to be quite good, but that's all assuming they've been handled well and stored correctly - which if you're buying from somebody else then you just don't know this for sure. The magic needed is 8bit IDE option in XTIDE build what forces IDE controller to 8bit mode. It needs support from drive, AFAIK only CF-cards and microdrives do. Turbo XT clone build. Installed XTIDE ROM (27C64) to "ROM BASIC" and that seems to work fine with random 16-bit I/O controller. It boots DOS 6.22 just for testing.
