Phone activation does work. But since Microsoft does not support it, it's much easier to download Win XP SP3 from torrents and don't bother with activation at all.

But from Windows95-age onwards the SD-Card lacks the cache and it feels slower than a normal hard disk. I have cacheless SATA SSDs from multi-function units (4-8gb) and they work absolutely fine. SD cards are just slow.

I don't want to use thermal adhesive tape that is a BITCH to remove afterwards Just use adhesive on CPU corners and fill the center with thermal paste. GF 256 and GF2 didn't have any Z-buffer optimisations unlike GF3 and newer. GeForce 256 had some optimisations with the texture filtering though.

I think the rarity of GeForce 256 is "slightly" exaggerated, at least for 32mb cards.

DX9 games didn't start appearing until after 2004 anyway They actually did. Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness and Halo CE were infamous examples of FX series drawbacks.

DX2 66mhz is 5v CPU and most likely runs hotter than DX4 100mhz 3.45v.

20-21 inch 1600x1200 IPS panels are not overclockable from my experience. Though early 16:10 screens like Dell 2209WA can work at 75hz flawlessly and force 4:3 aspect ratio. I think only PVA/MVA 1600x1200 panels are theoretically capable to do 75hz.

I did some research, the last with chipsets with ISA seems to be Intel 440-450 Intel had full ISA support all the way up to ICH5 south bridge. Later chipsets had partial ISA support without DMA.

For Socket 939 with AGP the best options are more or less boiled down to ABIT or ASUS boards based on VIA chipset. MSI is not good overclocker and everything else is just meh. Nforce 3 boards are more varied: Gigabyte, Epox, DFI, MSI. All have some flaws, but quite usable for Windows XP SP3.

That's gamma correction bug. Try to set all three gamma sliders to 1.0 intead of default 1.3. This should help.

External VRM is required for 2.8v suppport aka Pentium MMX support. Easiest way to check the board status is to use original Pentium (3.3v). But it also does have a risk to fry your CPU if the board VRM is damaged.

Boards with external VRM connector will work only with original Pentium.
