Major flaw of late Rage cards is the lack of proper VBE 3.0 support, with no means to fix that. So if you want custom resolutions and refresh rates - you're out of luck. Rage Pro and derivatives of that core are still fine for late DOS, but they are hardly suitable for anything except very early 3D …

Probably can be disabled directly via registry tweaking. disabling vsync on riva 128 or TNT is not allowed OpenGL already has Vsync disabled.

Then just go ahead and find a PCI Matrox G450 or Radeon 7000 if you want cheap, Already discussed in thread about optimal video card for Pentium Pro. Both suck as an option for slow CPUs.

Well, it fairly stupid to run a CPU without any kind of cooling That's would be scenario of unproper cooler installation. Although frying CPUs by cooler removal while running Quake 3 aren't the same thing as accidentally booting system up without one.

In general, Slot 1 motherboards had rudimentary overheat protection, which was the point of thermal sensor in Deschutes. But it won't help if you want to insert PIII without cooling.

Secondly, owing to its Unreal Engine roots, the game runs best on Glide. GeForce cards at the time had to use D3D which meant performance suffered even more. Eh, no. OpenGL renderer should be better and various iterations were provided even before DX9 renderer for Unreal Engine 1.0 was released.

I always though the last generation of the M2 packaging had sophisticated aesthetic . On the contrary. It's simplified design, with heatspreader just crudely glued directly on FCBGA style crystal with no additional support.
