Buy two phillips saa0099 to turn it back to a sound blaster 1.0 and enjoy CMS music :D I'll try to find those chips. Also one reason why I wanted the voodoo 2 card was because I already had exactly same card in one of my PCs, so I will also be looking for a SLI cable to try running 2 cards in one …

I have 3 computers in the picture there. 486 33Mhz and K6-III+ on the desk and the bottom one is Athlon64. Monitor is standard 19" 1600x1200 75Hz CRT.

I think period correct build is good for those when you want to replicate a pc that you used to have. Of course for most people changing parts that don't change the experience of using the pc like power supply or cooling don't matter that much.

I just noticed that even Phil made similar of build as mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yryjIuPijjo I got a bit better performance in crysis perhaps thanks to the second core. He didn't install win98se to dual boot but he could have thanks to there being win98 drivers for all the hardware. …

I was looking at roland PSB-230 EU at one site, but it didn't list MT-32 in the list of devices it is compatible with. Perhaps it isn't listed just because it is so old though.

After few days the original mt-32 power supply started making buzzing noise, but the output voltage is still the same when there is no load. Any idea what might be causing that and if it is safe to continue using it?

I have around 40 3.5" floppies which I use with my 486 pc mostly. The only 5 1/4" floppies I have are original games, so I am hoping to find some of them in near future.

I have been thinking of getting universal power supply for the unit just in case. My main problem is that when they come with different types of connectors, I don't actually know which one (if any) actually fits the MT-32 unit. Most of them seems to let me change polarity so that won't be a problem. …

I was under the impression that isopropyl alcohol was effective at removing permanent marker. However, I am not sure how it would react with the paint or plastic. My most surprising result when benchmarking is how much the video card matters even in old 386 and 486 PCs and dos games and how much you can cripple the system if you put a basic slow isa vga card to the system. You can turn a 486 into a 386 in games by doing so.
