Was there no sound blaster games before September in 1990? I remember battletech having speech at least, but I don't remember if it was sound blaster specifically.

First game that had a sound mode that required sound blaster and didn't work with earlier cards so that most likely means that it used sound effects too.

Why not put a floppy drive there even if it would not be connected to anything if you don't need it in that pc? it would at least give it the correct look.

I was thinking that if getting better ram modules would help with the problem and I am going to have to spend money on ram, I might as well go to faster ram like trying to find fast g.skill, ocz or crucial PC4000 ram. Then money would be going to a ram speed upgrade as well in addition of increasing …

It is the newest bios version you can get from asus site. All those kingston memory modules and apacer ones are DS. I have 2 identical apacer modules there and they work fine at 400mhz, T1 and 2.5-3-3-8 timings. Here is a picture of one of them: 20180316_221605[1].jpg I can't think of any other …

If it would work at 333Mhz, would the reason for it not working at 400Mhz be because of the motherboard or the low quality of memory modules? Basically I am asking if getting better ram modules would help or is this limitation of the motherboard and memory controller?

I guess I assumed it too that because yamaha card setup sets the dos joystick port, having a second pci card with joystick port would interfere. I just generally thought joystick ports were meant for dos, because by the time audigy 2 zs was released, I bet pretty much all joysticks meant to be used …

I would like to use 2 sound cards in a same system. One of them for dos compatibility reasons and the other one just for windows use. Both of them have joystick/midi port. Does one of the joystick ports need to be disabled somehow for dos use if I want to use joystick or midi in dos games?

I think that it is only that the motherboard doesn't know what the max rpm of the fans are. If the rpm the fans are running are close to what their max rpm is, you can just ignore it or buy fans that have higher max rpm.

With mysterious floppy related problems, I usually first try different floppy controller. It is reasonably easy thing to try to rule things out.

I was just recently thinking about if I should get one of those fx series cards thinking that they might be the fastest graphics card that supported those older features like 8 bit paletted textures but after watching this video I started to doubt things.

Also one of the black connectors almost looks like it would only have 2 rows in the female connector, so might that be ega card? I can't be absolutely sure because of low resolution of the pictures, but it looked like that to me.

I think it depends on what you are looking for. Video cards that have only one black colored vga interface have a chance to be something usable in retro systems and same with sound cards that don't have colored connectors. The sound card with colored connectors and black board reminds me of sound …

Also I would have wanted 82.69 driver version to be tested, because I have read that they fixed many bugs in that version and it would have been nice to see if the upwards trend would have continued in performance after the last driver version Phil tested.

You are most likely right. Later made drivers most likely expect faster cpu to be used with them and the system used to test the drivers probably have had faster cpu as well. It might not be possible, but it would be nice to see gpu and cpu load % values when doing a test like this.

Most likely has some kind of industrial use . Perhaps it is used to run some special display and doesn't output signal that normal displays understand. If it has an FCC ID, it could be often used to find out it's purpose.
