For me most frustrating part is when you buy an old part and it works perhaps for few days and then it dies. Seems to happen to me very often.

Best method would be something that wouldn't take too much space, but would still allow me to label each of them. At the moment I just usually have to take out dozens of them out of the box to find the one that I want to use.

I thought WPC54G is a 32 bit cardbus card and that laptop has a 16 bit PCMCIA slot? Could the problem have something to do with that?

That wooden block looks nice but would it still work if you want to keep the cards in anti static bags? I was even thinking of buying a 3D printer so I could make something that would work perfectly for expansion cards and motherboards, but those printers are quite expensive.

I do have some other motherboard options for testing the sound cards for emulation. For example I could use one that has VIA K8T800Pro/VT8237 chipset if that works better.

Hopefully it is better than just pc speaker. I do also have sound blaster live that I could try to see how well sound blaster emulation works. Any idea which one is better option? Or would it be better to buy one of those aureal vortex 2 cards for dos?

I was just recently thinking of trying similar pci cards on asus striker II extreme motherboard and this thread made me wonder if it is a good idea. Does that motherboard have too new chipset when it comes to that emulation?

The PC comes with OEM winXP and 160GB hard drive with C: and D: partitions. The motherboard has ISA slots, so I thought I could add dos compatibility to it by adding an ISA sound card and second hard drive that has dos 6.22. I suppose basically it means that anything that I have that has good enough cpu doesn't have AGP slot and has PCI express slot instead. Well, I have A7V133-C that supports palominos, but it currently has 900Mhz duron installed.
