Some older motherboards have color/monochrome jumper on them. Might that have anything to do with this problem?

You could try running the system with less ram and see if that fixes any issues. Win98 doesn't need large amounts of ram and it generally doesn't boot at all above 512Mb, so if you could try putting just 256Mb ram in the system and see if that fixes any of the issues.

I got about same amount of realtics as gametics with 100Mhz 486 and pretty much any pci card, so that matches quite well with those vlb results.

For me pretty much all high density floppies I saved from early 90s still work. Although I did only save floppies that I thought were good brand like 3M and threw away any no-name floppies.

With throttle, via chipsets are good because they allow finer control and more slowdown. It does not help with all speed sensitivity issues though. For examples certain games that can't detect voodoo card because of fast cpu or fsb also won't detect with throttle slowdown and I was only able to make …

There is also Pentium 233Mhz mmx that has good options for slowing it down. Also I have a 486 33Mhz retro pc that can be slowed down to 386 and 286 speeds by disabling caches and combining that with using the turbo button. I can say that 486 is my favourite retro pc.

Does anyone know if sound blaster audigy 2zs line in passthrough works in dos? Basically I am trying to find out if I can connect dos isa sound card output to audigy 2zs line-in connector and it still works and you hear the sound in dos?

I was offered a huge compaq Pentium 2 server last year for free, but there is no chance I would have room for such things, so it went to e-waste I only have room for limited amount of PCs that I actually will be using for retro stuff.
