The original Vortex really isn't that great. SBlive! also does A3D as well plus EAX in hardware. Only Vortex2 cards are capable of A3D 2.0, so I'd recommend to only get a Vortex2 card if you want an Aureal chip.

You're welcome! 😀 I think even though the Diamond Banshee has its cooler glued on there are mounting holes for a cooler on the pcb but they're exactly diagonally across. The heatsink you linked probably won't fit those holes. 🙁 I don't know how far they're apart, sorry.

This is my modefication..... As the original heatsink has 4 holes, and only 2 are used to mount it to the pcb, there are 2 holes left for zip-ties. You only need to find ones that are thin enough, in order to have them go through the holes and underneath the heatsink. What wide has those zip ties? …

Matze79 had similar problems and found a fix: ALI Chipset vs AGP Card - K6-2 Commate S7AX He disabled Sideband Adressing (and repaired broken solder joints on his board). Given going into PCI mode disables Sideband Adressing as well you should try that.

SD cards aren't that great for use as system drives. Doesn't mean they'll always give you trouble though. With Win9x make sure to disable write-behind caching for SD cards since they (usually?) do not have an integrated cache and using the feature on them will often cause the system to stutter.

Covington Celerons are pretty slow since they have no l2 cache. They perform at Pentium1 levels. I guess this is about Socket 7 speed. But you could also just disable the l2 cache on a Pentium II for about the same effect.
