Bought this WD 80 GB drive, which finally accepted Windows 98 as its companion 😀 I already had the same one, but with SATA interface, and that just wouldn't work at all (installation hang at the end).

Finally successfully installed Windows 98 on my first "retro" PC! That system (at least on my configuration) really hates SATA drives (SATA DVD-ROM was unable to boot Windows 98 installer, and once I got PATA DVD-ROM, during final moments of installation on SATA drive, it just hangs).

As I was saying previously, I had to change that ugly cooler which cames with the card, it was just too much for me. So I swapped it for my copper Zalman. Much better, I think 😀

So far my fastest, and also cheapest retro GPU :roll: https://srandista.kirril.com/PC/X850.jpg Not a bad deal for 3 Euros, I think :) Of course that abomination, which is attached to it, will be swapped in following days for my Zalman copper GPU cooler, which came with my previous X800 Pro. I swap my DVD-RW SATA drive for DVD PATA drive and put 256 MB RAM instead of 2 GB RAM, so I was finally able to run installation of Win98SE from CD. Unfortunetaly, there is still some issue during the final part installation, which require more troubleshooting 😢

AMD is stated that just in release notes, and not provide it on driver download web page, because it's beta support. It's obvious then, that they wouldn't promote beta driver on website. I will however give it a try, once I finish my Win98/WinXP build with X800 Pro VIVO@X800 XT PE.
