Started restoring an Alcatel 8551-500 PC today. Based on a custom mainboard made by Acer which can work as either 386SX-25 or 486DX2/50. Not much to show yet, though.

I can't change it manually. Please be a bit more accurate. What happens if you check the option "assign resources manually" and select a configuration that matches the one you want? Do you have any other devices that have no drivers installed, are shown as unknown/not working, or similar?

He means that Direct3D games from late 1999 have a "base" requirement of DX7, not the latest driver from 3dfx for the 5500.

i hope that someone will write something for that in future Your best bet is FreeDOS then, as that is open-source and one could easily add such a feature. However, it won't fix your fundamental design flaws like wanting to have if-branches in config.sys that depend on what the autoexec.bat does. …

Lets imagine that you would like to use same branch once with cd rom driver and second time without it, make new branch for every combination means in zillion of branches, with working if or enableCdrom True/False variable in header or transfered variable from autoexec would be much better solution …

That's not the point. If you change it over to manually, Windows can not longer complain that the BIOS could not handle ressource management for the card.

Best one, yes. CT1747 bus controller, so no hanging notes bug, real OPL3 (integrated, not external - Creative still had a licence to use the OPL3 at that time), ASP chip, wavetable header, SIMM slots for sample RAM upgrade, and jumpers, so no PnP required. Also, noise isn't that bad either.

Sound Blaster AudioPCI 128 The same card with the CT2518 instead of the CT5880 was called "Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI". Both cards go under the CT4810 label.

Reading your project thread, this: "a) First 2 are Windows 98 boot and Windows 98 safe mode boot," already shows that your fundamental design is way off. Setting bootmenu=1 in msdos.sys already gives you those options incl. additional ones like real-mode DOS before even config.sys and autoexec.bat …

My Savage4 Pro does something similar. VESA modes are fine until I quit from Windows. Then, I get the same result as in your picture, but also with pixels scrambled. Hardware or video BIOS bug I guess.
