No modification is needed, unless you want to use the drive in an Amiga or something. If you want to use it as a DD drive but with HD media (which I don't recommend), you may short the DD sensor.

RAMDAC speed has no effect on video signal quality, only on available refresh rates. Early VGA cards had RAMDAC speed of 45 MHz. But still these could provide sharp image at 640x480.

The one I use is Fast Page (EDO doesn't work afaik), double sided, and populated with 24 chips in total. From all 32 MB modules I own (and those are many), only that one worked.

I used an LS-120 back then when it was released. Afaik, you need to use FMTLS120.EXE to format LS-120 disks in DOS.
