Re: Exclusive Facebook Groups for PC Hardware

in Milliways
Heh, kind of funny to see this on here. I'm a member of that group. I posted a picture of my childhood Voodoo 5 on another group and got added into it. My take is that it's a bit of silly harmless fun to make owners feel special about owning a slightly unusual piece of hardware. Very little actually …

Re: Bought these (retro) software/OS today

in Milliways
Bought a brand new sealed copy of The Incredible Machine 3 from eBay, as well as a used copy of the PC Game Diggers on Amazon. The first showed up on ebay after months of waiting for a boxed copy, so I jumped on it. The box was shrinkwrapped, but had some wrinkling underneath, so I decided to open …

Re: Sound card industry

in Milliways
Probably already mentioned, but for anyone seriously interested in audio, a "sound card" doesn't work - powered studio speakers typically have balanced 1/4 inch jacks and XLR connections, you simply cannot fit that option on a PCI card. Since supporting that would require a breakout box anyway, …

Re: Nerdgasm dreams

Vancouver can be a treasure trove for retro stuff sometimes, not sure why exactly! I've done well off of Craigslist here and we have some good used video game stores around as well. Not just Vancouver (my wife is a dualie and we love YVR), but the Northwest in general. I find more vintage hardware …

Re: Redbook audio and cd-images

Daemon Tools can simulate redbook audio - as you mention you must convert the MP3s to WAV first, and then update the CUE file with a find/replace ".mp3" to ".wav". Then you just open the CUE file with Daemon Tools and it will locate the BIN CD image and tracks and simulate the CD ROM drive.
