Re: Roland SD-90 assistance

Spent some extra time examining the encoder knobs. They are in really bad shape. The box it came in did not show any kind of damage so they either took a sharp blow during shipping or the seller sold it to me in defective condition. I still have not heard back from the seller so I doubt I am going …

Re: Roland SD-90 assistance

Something is wrong here. When I get to that screen I see that the three knobs control the MIDI, INST, and DEV ID. When I rotate the one on the far left for MIDI Startup I get no response on the screen nor does the middle knob for Inst. Startup change anything. When I rotate the DEV ID the value goes …

Roland SD-90 assistance

I just got mine in and when I send a MIDI signal to MIDI IN 1 I get no activity from the SD-90. Does it need to be configured to play MIDI coming into it? I did a factory reset and no change. I would think that being able to do this would be on at default or not?

Re: Opinions on Yamaha TG100 and Kawai GMega

I agree with a few others in that I like the differences between each sound module. The more advanced sound modules sound great with complex MIDI music but when playing simple MIDI music the early sound modules often sound better in my opinion. Yes it can be addicting collecting all the different …

Re: Opinions on Yamaha TG100 and Kawai GMega

I have a collection of sound modules that I am building up myself. lol I don't have the Kawai GMega but I do have the Yamaha TG100. I like my TG100 as it does have a bit of a unique style to it. You are right in that there are not many TG100 recordings of game music. I have a few Roland SD-20 …

Re: Seeking Drivers for Roland Edirol SD-90...

I am getting my SD-90 in a few days so I can't verify this yet but I did some research on drivers also and found that there is someone who has a patcher to alter the Windows 8 drivers so that they work properly with Windows 10. I saw a thread on a forum somewhere else that had a lot of people using …

Re: MIDI over Bluetooth

Seems like no one here has played around with this wireless hardware so I am going to go ahead and get the Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth Wireless MIDI Adaptor and do some testing in iOS, Android, and possibly Windows 10. If it works then I will probably get a few more but if not than I am out the $50 I …

MIDI over Bluetooth

I just read about this tech. If I am not mistaken, it seems to be used on iOS devices only. Anyone familiar with this? I have an iPad and it would be cool to have it play a MIDI and send it to one of my sound modules wirelessly if that is possible with this device. Has anyone attempted this?

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

SuperDeadite wrote: I always wanted the AN. They sound fantastic because Yamaha did not hold back on the hardware for them. You mentioned before that it was easy to substitute in sounds from the PLG-150DR into your MIDI music. Is it the same easy substitution arrangement with the PLG-150AN?

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

PLGs are really meant for music creation. I only have the PLG150-DR (drums) and it is the best for game use, as it's simply a matter of subbing in the drum kit of your choice. A bass drum is always a bass drum, just have to pick the one you like, and the DR board generally sounds better then the XG …

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

1A should be plenty of power for running just the MU by itself. The unit will only draw what it needs. However, if you start installing PLG boards, then more power is needed. The original 2A supply allows you to install 3 PLGs and use everything at the same time. Ah, that makes sense that the extra …

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

Just acquired my MU2000EX. The adapter I received was not the original one from Yamaha but it was the correct connector size, and polarity. The output of it is 12V 1A. Tried it with my MU2000EX and it works great with it so FYI you can get one with those specs. The MU2000EX sounds awesome. Very …

Re: Yamaha MU2000EX

My MU2000EX just arrived at my local post office so I am heading over there hopefully tomorrow to get it. Among all the sound modules I have, the sellers sent a few power supplies that I found were questionable so I replaced them. I think when I looked into this unit the power specs were 12V 1A but …
