Some 386 boards are bad with 16-bit DMA transfers (like the M-321, where sometimes you can have reboots running DIAGNOSE). Try other HDMA channels; if you don't get satisfactory results, use the DMA channel for the HDMA channel (match HX to DX).

Yes, use a crossover cable between them. You can then use arp -a to find the IP for it by looking for the camera's physical address in the list.

SeaTools says the firmware revision is "unknown"; have you tried to find a firmware update for it? I'm not sure if SeaTools has an integrated firmware update utility.
