Medit locks up my computer

I was trying to use Medit, a tracker made for composing MT-32 tracks among things, but when I run it, it locks up my computer trying to open the file menu for instance. Anyone have experience with this program? My system runs MS-DOS 6.22.

I realize I misread part of your text and didn't catch you were asking between CM-32L and MT-32 (new). I don't think there's much difference in compatibility other than minor sound differences. I think you can cover a huge range with just an MT-32 (old) and a CM-32L/LAPC-I.

Maybe the game runs into buffer overflow? Normally stated in the display when this happens. When that happens, it will not manage to finish programming and things will sound off. Some cards like my LAPC-I have a static IRQ 2/9, where the jumpers normally be are just shorted instead. The LAPC-I has an MPU-401 interface. J01 equals IRQ 2/9.

I’ve had a SCC-1 with one of the wave ROMs being faulty, and the instruments from that ROM made clicks and noise. The rest sounded fine. Music that didn’t use any of those instruments were indistinguishable from playing the same music on my SC-55 which was in 100% working condition.

I'd go with Sound Blaster Live! for this motherboard. Even if this is a mediocre choice, I think most other cards would be even worse for the purpose of DOS-gaming, and for Windows 98, it is superb. Other choices might give you real OPL, but a lot worse Sound Blaster emulation.

I use GUS PnP for sound and SCC-1A (equal to SC-55 Mk. II) for MIDI. GUS PnP has a lot less noise than my SB16 (CT2800).

I own a DX2ODP66 and DX4ODP100. Which sockets can these safely be placed? Most places just refer to "Overdrive socket", but what exactly is an "Overdrive socket"?
