Where to start diagnosing a dead 3dfx monster

You could test each of the keyboard plug pins with a multimeter to see if there is connectivity to the solder points on the back of the pcb to rule out a faulty plug

It could be a line form cache or memory losing connectivity, signal is lost sometimes and not others. If you had a external programmer like a tl866 you could check the cache chips direct and rule them out

You can usually tell by putting original battery and suspected battery side by side. See if the fonts and quality of the print is the same, cheap Chinese fakes usually have more blurry and less sharp writing, might be crooked and might even have spelling mistakes
