Intel was emphasising the 8 bittedness of the 8088 externally so as to court system designers who thought 16 bit was scary and who otherwise might have banged out another Z80, or 6800 system.

I didn't use one yet, just the install that came on it which I'm not sure was right. edit: oh the graphics drivers were sp8940 but looking for newer, they only support dx7 thinking of trying sp17515 (Ati packaged 98/2k/xp together, not sure compaq did)

I think ppl misoverestimate what typical boxes do at idle, I've had some X2 boxes on a wattmeter and they were reading 40-50, it didn't actually seem to make much difference whether it was a 45W B series or a 95W CPU for idle consumption. Well, some screenmodes are not 4:3 with square pixels. This is a PC monitor correct? It should store corrections for different screen modes, so if you let it be the mode it wants, then you can go into the menu of the monitor and adjust the size and placement, and it will save it for that mode.

I'd be looking for a flat steel "bicycle spanner" type wrench to see if I could engage the heatspreader and apply torque.... failing that, I'd try to put it in a vice with shims that gripped the heatspreader instead of the CPU substrate. Then twist again, like you did last summer...

TIP32C seems to be the correct transistor (Whether it's up to the job long term might be up for speculation) Tomato 4DPS 2.0 + Cyrix DX2-66 - not work Odd that never showed up until I was looking for TNT 64 info and quite serendipitous.
