Re: "Outrigger" OR840 build

Thanks for the info and the BIOS files. I got the updated BIOS installed without too much trouble. I tried to get my s370 1GHz P3s to work in the board with some slokets but I couldn't get them to work. I didn't use the MSI ones though because I couldn't find the documentation for the ver 2 6905. I …

Re: "Outrigger" OR840 build

Hello. I really like your OR840 setup! I have an OR840 board and was planning on getting a pair of P3/S CPUs running in it. I ordered some pre modded P3/S CPUs on ebay and I already have a few MSI slocket adapters (6905 ver2). Hopefully it works. I have been looking for an updated BIOS for this …

OR840 Questions

I have a few questions about my intel OR840. First off, I need a PSU for it. Now I have a fair number of PSUs around but so far it will only turn on with one I pulled from an IBM intellistaion M pro. I noticed the IBM PSU had this aux connector that the OR840 board uses, however the board will power …

Re: ATI cards for retro builds... any benefits?

ATI does not 'cheat', their R200 architecture simply does not support Trilinear filtering and Anisotropic filtering together. The result of this is a slight loss in filtering quality but nothing major. They did 'cheat' with texture quality overall in some drivers (the Quack debacle) but those ' …

Re: Quake III Arena Benchmark Thread

This was on my 4coredual-sata2 board with a core2 x6800@3.2 with 4gigs of ddr2@533 and a radeon x800pro. The x800pro has the full 16 pipelines enabled but its running at x800pro default clocks. I'm running the omega 38413 drivers. I lost about 100fps running the game in a window. Filename q3_32.PNG …

Re: Help with card repair

Thank you! The x800 board is now working fine. I didn't mention in my OP but I had tried the card anyways without r17 and I got artifacts all over the screen. Now its working fine. Didn't think I would be able to fix it.

Help with card repair

I have a Radeon x800pro card that has some physical damage. The card was in one of my parts bins and it had a Radeon 9700pro on top of it, which has a zalman vf700 heatsink. I think the heatsink fins ripped off some components on the x800 when the bin was moved. The parts that were missing are c82, …

Re: ALR Business VEISA 386DX 33

Wow. This thread brings back memories. I had a system just like this. Mine had a 486 cpu card. I had the ram expansion slot in my system, i think it added 4 30pin simm slots. Mine came with an ati vga wonder/ 28800-6. I replaced it with an ati mach32 eisa card. I no longer have the system. My mom …

Re: ATI cards for retro builds... any benefits?

The 8500 is great for playing around with truform. Just get an older driver (cat 5.8 or older). I found the 8500 to generally be slower than the 4200. It does depend a bit on the settings. If you enable trlinear filtering the 8500 takes a big hit. I don't like the AA on the 8500 much. It was a bit …
