I also just scored a Quadro 980 GXL and running the last Win98 drivers without too many quirks - benches the same as a Geforce Ti4600 in 3DMark 2000 and 2001, so I doubt I'll need to fuss with soft mods.

Try both and see - many like OS 7.6 for sheer speed, while I prefer OS 8.1 on later 68K machines with lots of RAM because HFS+ support is quite useful when coupling it with later PPC Macs. XC68040RC40M That is an '040 CPU with an FPU; I'm not sure why you'd think otherwise? The LC630 has the FPU less '040 while all Quadra 630 variants had full. - RC is the full chip - LC lacks FPU - EC lacks FPU and MMU Run a benchmark such as Norton System Info under your Q630 to confirm

I just paired a Ti4600 with my Tualatin 1.2 (Celeron), for Windows 98, I think it's a good choice. In the day a better Geforce 4 was often the card of choice for those with lowly Pentium III setups (vs. Pentium 4, Athlon XP rigs) as it gave them a couple more years of gaming life without issue.
