Several of my old (under 2GB) WD drives have stopped working also, and I imagine the few remaining will do, all the Conner drives I have no longer work also. Quantums and Seagates I have all function and don't seem to have any bad sectors developed on them.

3 or 9 pins shouldn't matter, other than for possible overclocking as 9 pin SIMMs put higher load on the bus which will tax the system harder. Both types will have parity and only other difference is that 3 chip ones have 8 data bits coming out of two chips rather than 8 where each handles only …

Silicon is protected with a glass like layer and the gold bond wires etc. are not going to disintegrate either in a typical atmosphere. The main issue will be physical debris getting in there and knocking together some bond wires or something...

The C19 is a bit different, it is a filter cap on a signal line. Luckily the one right above it is the right kind. I expect it to be 1000pF range rather than 0.1µF. Try to see the markings of the neighbor.

You can just short the outer pins of the filters on SCB7 to make it work again and maybe eventually you can find suitable replacement parts to restore visual condition. Typical speakers I see are 8ohm and 0.1...0.5W but in general there's no strict spec requirements. Neither power or impedance specs matter much, there's not enough current to try a speaker and the 5V driver voltage will make even high impedance drivers sound loud enough.
