As far as identification goes, you could just use MIDI output functionality and issue a special sysex that the WB card will respond to. Less signals needed, perhaps bypassing need for any extra interface at all if SPDIF is sufficient (I don't actually like the format but many things have it...). …

And all of those links have shipping cost that lingers around 30usd+, and once they arrive here I'll have to pay 20...30usd in import taxes, so it makes them completely uneconomical, to a point it is much cheaper for me to make my own. I imagine shipping won't be much different for other EU …

8139 will have drivers for pretty much everything imaginable, including 95 : http://www.tmeeco.eu/9X4EVER/GOODIES/RTL81392/ Intel card will perform better though.

Intel Pro100S works nicely with 95, RTL8169 works too if you have the NDIS2 driver rather than the later NDIS4 one which will only work in 98/SE/ME.

This is a ground loop caused issue, there's no good fix for it unfortunately... Balanced inputs will be able to help but all devices need to use them.

16MB ones I'd like to do but there's difficulties sourcing parts for them, these very large DRAM chips are uncommon and quite expensive but definitely not 77usd/pair expensive 🤣.

If you are in USA the 4MB 60ns sticks are pretty cheap to get but pretty much nobody sells them in EU and buying from USA will end up more than twice the cost due to ridiculously high shipping costs over there and import taxes that come on top aswell. They're not yet for sale but soon will be. …

For OPL3 ports move, try to make a new PnP EEPROM with OPL3 given ideal IO location you desire and acceptable IO locations that also don't contain 388. Hopefully Creative's utils respect the EEPROM settings. Windows definitely will.

It does seem that there are a number of suspicious vias near the keyboard controller. You can see lot of corrosion on chip pins and also ISA slot pins aswell.

I have had no problems with any of my several SpecTek sticks. PQI I have had no issues with either, other brands i haven't seen or at least don't recall to.

With a broken ISA slot side of things the video BIOS would be unreadable and the machine would beep with no video card error since BIOS checksum cannot be verified.

That won't make a difference unless the card has ins own BIOS and that BIOS knows what ATAPI devices are. I don't know any such card. But as said before, this won't matter, you load your favorite CD driver in DOS and get access to the drive, and even if BIOS did know CD drives, DOS wouldn't still …
